Jolly Phonic for Reading

Jolly phonics is a comprehensive programme that uses a multi-sensory approach to teach literacy using synthetic phonics.

It is one of the most effective methods to teach young children the basic skills of reading, writing and spellings

such as blending (decoding) and segmenting (encoding) words which make unfamiliar words easy to read

  • – taught letter sounds as opposed to the alphabet
  • – gives a better understanding of the link between the sound (phoneme) and the way it is written (grapheme)
  • – 42 letter sounds are taught in a specific order (not alphabetically) enabling children to begin building words as early as possible
  • – instructed in a fun filled motivating way enabling children to become fluent readers from an early age
  • -each letter has an action associated with the sound, a story line and a song based on popular tunes making it easy for children to learn and remember
  • – sessions are conducted using innovative activities to create self interested, for active participation and to get the child completely involved and engaged
  • – taught in a structured way, starting with the easiest sounds and progressing through to the most complex
  • – improves reading and writing skills and letter- sound knowledge
  • – encourages to write freely with improved spellings, better reading, recognizing whole words and enhancing comprehension skills
